ROUNDHEAD CAMP SONG, No. 2.

 The Banner of the Free.

 BY JAMES B. MARSH.

 Air – Old Pine Tree.

Our Roundhead Soldiers bold and brave,

The serried columns form

We’ve dared the perils of the wave,

And braved the Ocean storm.

Undaunted, fearless undismayed,

We shout aloud with glee;

For high above us proudly waves

The banner of the free!

Chorus – Our Union sacred and entire,

Our Battle cry shall be,

The Stars and Stripes, our Country’s

 Flag,

The Banner of the Free.

On South Carolina’s sunny shore,

Our gallant Roundhead’s stand,

Our Glorious banner floats once more

In triumph o’er the land.

The traitor rebels filled with fear

In wild disorder flee,

The proud Palmetto quails before

The banner of the Free!

Chorus – Our Union, etc.

Brave hearts shall guard its starry folds.

Strong arms shall bear it on;

To o’er each traitorous Southern State

The victory is won.

And soon again on Summer’s walls

Our longing eyes shall see,

High o’er the false Palmetto, wave

The Banner of the Free.

Chorus – Our Union, etc.
